FIGHTING ABSURDITY WITH ABSURDITY
SUMMARY
This is Revelations 4 - 21. Each chapter is numbered with a brief description of all the specific actions that occur in said chapter. Almost all preaching, praising, description have been omitted.

It's the best I can provide for a bare-bone summary of the events of Revelations.

4: John is shown heaven: the one on the throne, the twenty-four elders, and the four living beings.

5: The Lamb who once died but now stands before the throne is chosen worthy to break the seals and open the seven scrolls.

6: The Lamb breaks the first seal. One of the four beast calls a white horse. Its rider carried a bow, and a crown was placed on his head. He rode out to win many battles and gain the victory.

The Lamb breaks the second seal. The second beast calls a red horse. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to remove peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere.

The Lamb breaks the third seal. The third living being calls a black horse, its rider holding a pair of scales. A voice from the four living beings say "A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley for a day's pay. And don't waste the olive oil and wine."

The Lamb breaks the fourth seal. The fourth being calls a green horse. Death was the name of its rider.

They were given authority over one-fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, famine, disease and wild animals.

The Lamb breaks the fifth seal.

All the souls who had been martyred for the word of God ask the Sovereign Lord when will they be avenged. They are given white robes and asked to wait till all of Jesus's servants have been martyred.

The Lamb breaks the sixth seal.

There was a great earthquake. The sun becomes black. The moon becomes red. The stars fall from the sky. The sky was rolled up and taken away.

All the mountains and islands disappear. All people hide in caves.

7: An angel halts the four angels holding back the four winds. He has them wait until he places the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.

A vast crowd stands before the Lamb. They are the one's coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.

They give praise to God. One of the twenty-four elders describes them as those coming out of the great tribulation.

8: The Lamb breaks the seventh seal. There was silence throughout heaven. The seven angels who stand before God were given seven trumpets.

Then another angel throws a burning incense burner upon the earth: thunder, lightning and earthquake.

The first angel blew his trumpet and hail mixed with fire and blood were thrown upon the earth. One-third of the earth was set on fire. One-third of the trees were burned, and all the grass was burned.

The second angel blew his trumpet and a great mountain of fire was thrown into the sea. One-third of the sea became blood. One-third of all sea life died. One-third of all the ships in the sea were destroyed.

The third angel blew his trumpet and a flaming star fell upon one-third of rivers and springs. The name of the star was Bitterness (Wormwood.) It poisoned one-third of the water.

The fourth angel blew his trumpet, striking one-third of the sun, moon and stars. It made one-third of the day and night dark.

An eagle warns of the last three trumpets.

9: The fifth angel blows his trumpet. A star hits the earth opening the bottomless pit. It unleashes the locusts with scorpion tails.

They did not kill but instead tormented the people who did not have God's seal upon their forehead. People would long to die but could not. The locusts torment them for five months.

The sixth angel blew his trumpet. The four angels bound at the Euphrates River are turned loose to kill one-third of all the people on earth.

They led an army of 200 million mounted troops, riding horses with lion heads and snake tails.

They killed with the plagues of fire, smoke and burning sulfur.

10: An angel has John eat a small scroll and ordered him to prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.

11: The outer courtyard is turned over to the nations. It is trampled for 42 months.

The angel with the small scroll gives power to his two witnesses, who are the two olive trees and two lampstands that stand before the Lord.

If anyone tries to harm them, they destroy them with fire from their mouths.

They shut the skies so no rain falls. They turn the rivers and oceans to blood and send every kind of plague upon the earth as often as they wish.

The beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit declares war against them. He kills them. And their bodies will lie in the main street of Jerusalem. For three and a half days, all people will view their bodies and rejoice.

But after, God resurrects them and the prophets ascend to heaven. In the same hour, there was a terrible earthquake that destroyed a tenth of the city and kills seven thousand people.

The seventh trumpet is blown and the world is shaken by a mighty earthquake. The time for God's wrath has come.

12: Woman clothed in the sun is in labor. A seven-headed dragon with ten horns appears to eat the baby born.

The child born was a boy who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The baby is saved and brought to God and his throne.

The woman flees to the wilderness where God gives her care for 1,260 days.

Then there was a war in heaven. Michael and his angels battle the dragon and his angels. The dragon (Satan) loses and is thrown to the earth with all his angels.

Realizing he's on the earth, the dragon pursues the woman. But she's given two wings and flies to a place where she would be cared for a time, times, and half a time.

Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood. But the earth swallows the water.

Then the dragon became angry at the woman and declares war on all her children - all who keep God's commandments and confess that they belong to Jesus.

13: The beast with seven heads and ten horns rises out of the sea. It is the beast. One head was fatally wounded but healed. The miracle marveled the world and they followed the beast in awe.

They worshiped the dragon for giving it such power.

The beast was allowed to wage war against God's people and to overcome them. He was given authority to rule over the people. All the people who belong to the world will worship him.

Another beast comes out of the earth. He has two horns like those of a lamb. With the authority of the first beast, he required all the earth to worship the first beast.

He order the people to make a great statue of the first beast. He was permitted to give life to this statue so it could speak. The statue commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die.

He requires everyone to receive a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. No one could buy or sell without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. 666 or 616.

14: The Lamb stands with the 144,000 with his Father's name on their foreheads. They sing a song only they can sing.

An angel announces that Babylon has fallen.

A sickle is given to the Son of Man which he uses to harvest the earth.

An angel comes from the Temple in heaven. He too has a sharp sickle. He harvests those ripe for judgment. Like grapes, they are dropped into the great winepress of God's wrath. Blood flowed from the winepress in a stream 1,600 stadia (180 miles) long.

15: God's temple is thrown open and seven angels with seven plagues come out. God's people wait for the plagues' completion before entering the temple.

16: The seven angels are commanded to pour their plagues upon the earth.

The First Angel's plague causes sores to break out on all those who worship the beast.

The Second Angel's plague turns the sea into the blood of a corpse, killing everything in the sea.

The Third Angel's plague turns the rivers and springs into blood.

The Fourth Angel's plague causes the sun to scorch everyone with a blast of heat.

The Fifth Angel's plague plunges the beast's kingdom into darkness.

The Sixth Angel's plague dries out the Euphrates River so the kings of the east can march their armies westward.

Three frogs leap from the mouths of the dragon, beast and false prophet. They're miracle-working demons that cause the rulers of the world to gather for battle on judgment day.

They gather in a place called Armageddon.

The Seventh Angel's plague which causes the greatest earthquake in human history. It splits Babylon into three pieces and flattens cities around the world.

Every island disappears and all the mountains are leveled.

There was finally a terrible hailstorm.

17: One of the seven angels shows the judgments that will come on the great prostitute who sits on many waters. A name is written on her forehead: "Babylon the Great, Mother of All Prostitutes and Obscenities in the World."

She sits on a scarlet beast with seven heads and ten horns. The beast is dead but will soon come out of the bottomless pit and amaze the ungodly.

The beast and the ten kings (represented by the its ten horns), will eat the prostitute. The kings, by God's will, will give all their power to the beast.

The woman represents the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.

18: An angel curses Babylon - that it will suffer and be destroyed.

19: Heaven gives God praise. A man appears on a white horse. His name is Faithful and True with the title "King of kings and Lord of lords" written on his robe and thigh.

The beast gathers the kings of the nation and their armies to battle the man and his armies.

The beast is captured and both he and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire.

Their army is killed.

20: Satan is imprisoned in the bottomless pit for a thousand years. The first resurrection when Christ's supporters are raised from the dead. They reign with Christ for a thousand years.

The thousand years end. Satan is released from his prison. He deceives the nations into going to war with God's people and the beloved city. But heaven consumes the army.

The Devil is thrown into the lake of fire with the beast and the false prophet to be tormented for eternity.

The second death when the rest of the dead is resurrected and judge according to their deeds. Those not found in the Book of Life are thrown into the lake of fire.

21: A new heaven and a new earth without a sea. The new Jerusalem comes down from heaven. A perfect cube of 12,000 stadia (1,400 miles): no evil can enter and the light of God replaces the sun.

Here, God declares that it is finished.
